Luckily, that's what they are doing. All new Sony players will get native mp3 & AAC support (at last).

Since Sony is part of the MPEG group that develops it, it's not very surprising.

SonyEricsson isn't Sony and Sony has only said that they will support mp3 in addition to atrac3.

the times are a changin' then...

The PSP plays AAC, mp3 & ATRAC, so if Sony is to offer alternative formats for its store, AAC seems to be the logical choice.
