This is an unofficial release. There has been no mention of this at the official site.
This could be a fake so be careful.

I'm 98% sure it is a fake.

Or, at least, unofficial.

There haven't been new commits at the CVS for more than an year, and I don't see any movement going on at the CDex web space. Take your own conclusions.

I was under the hope that Faber would come out of stupor and code furiously for some time, and then disappear again. He did that several times before. But it's been too long, so I'm losing hope.

For all that matters, I would say CDex is as dead as EAC. With the relative advantage that CDex is open source, so there is a possibility of someone else grabbing teh sources and continue development. With EAC, we're completely on Andre's hands...

Fortunately I didn't claim I was 100% sure

OK, it is indeed 1.60b1. Don't ask me who is responsible for the changes, what changed, and what's going on here.

I compiled a fresh developer CVS sweep, and this is the about box:

There is nothing new here at all. I compiled a 1.60beta1 from the CVS on 15 July 2004!!!

That's weird then. Makes me wonder why the home page claims the curren version is 1.51

Maybe 1.51 is the release version and beta versions aren't announced?

meh... so long since I was a CDex developer, I already forgot the procedures

According to CHIP Online Germany, it offers an auto-rip function which should be helpful when ripping multiple CDs.

This is the only change I could find. It's a checkbox in the General settings and it's equivalent to running CDex.exe with the "-autorip" option.

There is also a musicbrainz.dll bundled with this beta, but I couldn't find any use of it.

It's either a joke, fake or just an unofficial compile.

Edit: Oh, and there hasn't been any activity in the CVS for 14 months. Go figure...
