Is this normal?

I just noticed files that I have encoded in stereo sound louder than files encoded in joint stereo using lame. is this normal? and to "MY" ears, the stereo files sound better than the JS files. btw, they were encoded in 192 cbr.

Have you ABX'ed them, just to be sure it isn't psychological?
