Ripping to AIFF

Hi,

Is there any way to add a AIFF encoder to EAC or CUEripper?

I want to be able to rip directly to AIFF.

The link to EAC just shows me that AIFF is not possible.  Am I missing soimething?

The link to the recent post I do not understand as I said in my last post.  It appears I need to look into what "SOX" is, which I will do.

If I told you why I wanted AIFF instead of Apple Lossless I feel there is a good chance we would end up getting into a discussion on why you think I am wrong, so I would rather not answer that question. 

If you can offer me any guidance on how to get AIFF directly from EAC or CUErip that would be very much appreciated!

No, EAC cannot directly output AIFF, hence the need for a subsequent converter such as SoX.

But watch out. SoX, just like Apple Lossless, totally ruins the sound quality of any audio it processes, even when the resulting file decodes to exactly the same bits as the input.

This does make it sound like you're about to do something you probably should not be doing.  Unless you have a very specific reason, AIFF is generally a rather poor choice.

foobar2000 can rip straight to aiff if you really must.

Thanks for that!  That is exactly what I want to know.

So what I am hearing here there is no way to get CUErip or EAC to output AIFF directly.

I have been using dBpoweramp, and love it.  But I cannot fully automate it for ripping.  Due to some legal requirements you have to manually click on the rip button.  For the project I am working on I want the highest quality AIFF rip and be fully automatic. Push CD in and it gets spit out and you get AIFF files. 

Any ideas?

What? I've just converted ~31000 FLAC to ALAC. Can you please explain?

For automated ripping you can use the Batch Ripper (the command line --autorip  sets straight to ripping).

Really?  Great!  Problem solved.    I have not used the Batch Ripper before - I will start playing aorund with it.

Ahah yes of course  I saw many times that ALAC was bugged and even Peter made a patch for the code. I thought it was all fixed and decided to convert all my files and wait for an imminent 128GB iOS device but then I saw that comment and everything went black!
