Automatically add songs from certain folders to playlists?

I'm getting tired of manually adding songs to playlists, it's all organized by folders on my computer anyhow can't I just point each playlist to certain folders and be done with it?

Thank you.

Are you using any library viewer (like the default Album list, or something like the more robust Facets)?

If you add your music folder to your library (file/preferences/media library), these will automatically update to reflect any changes. The library viewers usually have an option to mimic your folder structure too.

You can also set it (if it's not enabled by default) so highlighting anything here will automatically update the selection playlist so you can play the tracks immediately from there.

I have that, maybe it doesn't detect sub-folders automatically? This could work for one playlist where all I wanna do is add every song I have to do provided it detects sub-folders.

But I have a second playlist which I only want music from specific folders (and the sub-folders inside).

Perhaps post a screenshot of your current setup. The default Album list has a folder mode where it mimics your library as-is. Ergo shows subfolders and whatnot.

If you want to specifically link a playlist to list the contents of a single folder, that's something else. That can be done with autoplaylists with a syntax such as '%path% HAS \specific subfolder\'. You can create an autoplaylist by going to 'library/search', input the syntax then click on the '...' button and choose create autoplaylist.

Was this not what I was supposed to show? I'm very new to this player. Sorry.

No, I meant a picture of your main window. So I can see which library viewer you are using and how exactly does it 'not go into subfolders'.

Well, that's your problem. As I said, library viewers usually have an option to mimic your folder structure.

Since are using the default 'Album list' component (left/top side of your main window), you can click on the dropdown button that says 'by album' and change it to 'by file/folder structure' or whatever the term is used there.

So I did that, how do I parlay that into making certain playlists automatically pick up songs from a specific folder?

If you enable 'File/Preferences/Media library/Library viewer selection playlist' clicking anywhere on the Album list panel will update the 'library viewer selection' playlist with the corresponding items. You can also right click on a node in Album list and choose 'create autoplaylist' if you want that specific folder's contents always synced with a new playlist. Said autoplaylist can also be created the way I previously explained.

Thanks.

See, I want multiple folders synced in one playlist. This seems to work for one at a time.

Also what do you mean by node?
