.AIF vs. .AIFF when converting sample rates

Hi.  So I have a few hundred 16/44 .AIF files that I want to convert using Sox2 to 24/96.  When I go through the conversion window, it's clear that Foobar thinks AIFF files must have a .AIFF extension, not a .AIF extension.  I can't figure out a way to do a conversion and output the file as .AIF.  Is there any way to make the outputted file have a .AIF extension instead of .AIFF ?

I know this may sound weird but I have other projects going on that are dependent on these files having .AIF not .AIFF

Thanks
