Perhaps presets based on genre?

Hi guys,

I was just wondering, since it seems that certain settings favor certain music types, I thought it might make sense to make some presets based on music genre.

For instance, electronica, rock, metal, rap, dance, orchestra/classical, etc.

Each genre has areas where you can take advantage of certain things to lower the bitrate while other settings benefit quality.

What are the possibilities here?

Perhaps presets based on genre?

This has been discussed already before.  It doesn't really make sense from a coding point of view to create presets for different genres because on the signal level (which is where the encoders work, not the music level), there isn't really much difference between most types of music.  Certainly not enough for there to be significantly different tunings per genre.  Also, an encoder which would rely on different tunings for different kinds of music implies that the psymodel is broken -- it should be smart enough (and is, in the case of most of the encoders discussed here) to deal with these very slight variations automatically.

Psymodel tunings aren't really analogous to equalizer tunings or similar ideas which would be more suited to what you are probably thinking of..
