[TOS #5/7] From: Is the loudness war over?

The best way to clarify things is to provide objective data, so I've open some FLAC files of recent recordings (2006-2008) to see the spectrograms, and check how the "loudness wars" are at this point.

2006 - Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart - Violin Concertos (Camerata Salzburg feat. Leonidas Kavakos)

2007 - Elliott Carter; Pacifica Quartet - String Quartets nos. 1 and 5

2007 - Henryk Mikolaj Górecki - String Quartet no. 3 “...songs are sung” (Kronos Quartet)

2007 - Philippe de Monte; Cinquecento - Missa Ultimi miei sospiri

2008 - Benjamin Britten - Owen Wingrave  (Richard Hickox, City of London Sinfonia)

2008 -Denis Matsuev - the Carnegie Hall Concert

I don't see any "loudness wars" symptom in any of this recordings. People saying that loudness wars can't get any louder obviously are ignoring, consciously or not, data that don't match his preconceived opinions.
That has never been a problem in the interwebs of course.
