Why foobar generates big incoming Internet traffic?

Sorry, I could not find the answer.

I controll my traffic with NetWorx; local traffic is excluded. Today, an hour ago I saw accidently incoming traffic, 300KB/sec, about 1 minutes; Comodo firewall show, that it is foobar's process; and I was interesting, why. Foobar was loaded, and simply playing music in background, nothing else. Looked at NetWorx statistics: 10 GB incoming for foobar in 5 month, and 16 MB outgoing. (It is OK, I think - it may be update search, lyrics search and Internet search through Run services tool.)

2 GB monthly Internet traffic is not a probleme, of course; but I like to know, what happens on my own computer.
I have Online Tagger plugin, but use it never - I write tags only through Mp3tag.
I used Lyrics search very rarely in theese 5 month (since reinstalling windows).

PS
Thanks for foobar! Excellent application.

Thank you for your help.

No, last time a year ago.

No similar. One script to show long comments in a separate window, 10 scripts to quick search similar artists, songs, and so on, in my songs (database).

I think, if here will no more idea, I try to uninstall the Online Tagger plugin for a month. May be, it works in background, without calling.

There is absolutely zero chance of that happening. Pretty much nothing happens in foobar unless you explicitly tell it to do something. By that I mean foobar itself - not any 3rd party components.

2GB a month is over 60MB a day so I'd suggest you've forgotten something rather major (unlikely) or your software reporting this usage is at fault (possible??).

Could it be that your files are in network shares and your software is simply counting all bytes that go through network card?

No, my files are on internal HD + part on an external HD, through USB. These folders are not shared.

I could not find any.

I think, no. I saw a traffic on taskbar (NetWorx tool), and simultaneously saw in Comodo firewall 99.2% Internet usage of foobar. Later I saw in NetWorx statistics 10,5 GB incoming traffic of foobar. So, 2 independent applications show the foobar's traffic. And, as I see all the time the NetWorx mini applet on taskbar, I have an opinion (for 2 years): it shows the real traffic.

Oops! NetWorx today (through 48 hours) shows 10,8 GB in stats; it means 150 MB/day. Is it growing??

In fact, it will be a good diagnostic factor, if somebody else have this like traffic, and report about it here. Thanking in advance.

Try a stock installation. If it doesn't show the same symptoms, start adding whatever you customized to it one by one.

Check the IPs foobar connects to in Resource Monitor or Currports and research them. I'd also run a system check for viruses preferably with Malwarebytes or similar.

Yes, it is a good idea, thank you - I try it.
First I turn foobar in Comodo preferences to "ask me every time to let the traffic" mode, so I can easy catch the IPs.

Yeaah!  The first incoming to foobar attempts. I blocked them one by one.    All TCP, at port 80 (http port).

And I assume you didn't try this with stock foobar? Because at least 2 of those IPs are linked to lyrics sites which tells you are still using foo_uie_lyrics3.

Yes, I did not try it yet. Now virus check runs, I try it after. But it will now easier, thanks to You - first I try simply disable only foo_uie_lyrics3.

LATER
Hmm... I turned it off, now. Waiting for.

But, by the way, while waiting (I mean: working): lyrics dowloads does not explain the 300 KB/sec download for about 1 minute, 2 days ago.

Status:
- virus check is negative;
- since I removed the foo_uie_lyrics3 plugin, there were no more attempts.

After 48 hour I check again the traffic statistics in NetWorx, and report here the result. Till then thanks to all for help!

Oh, yes, by the way: I used lyrics search rarely in these 5 month, but there is a window (so, usually in background) to show lyrics of the actual song. And yes, it seems, it works every time, without turning to this window, too (because it shows the percent of the search status).

No more attempts and no more incoming traffic growing.
So, foo_uie_lyrics3 plugin generates an incoming traffic in background.
