Ambiophonics

Hi,

Anyone here have a dedicated Ambiophonics setup? There is another thread using ambiophonics plugin with Foobar but I don't think the said plugin is available anymore. My setup is based on Miniambio hardware. I have been using it for more than a year and fully satisfied with the results.

I would appreciate if anyone who have tried or having dedicated ambiophonics setup to share their experience.

Thanx.

How interesting!

The youtube link is missing the colon after the http ("http:" so it loads a null page.

But I have small, very cheap desktop speakers placed about 8 inches from the laptop on each side so that youtube video won't be as accurate for me.

But that Foobar plugin, I did not ever see it before! I should really browse this forum more often. Older topics, especially.

Thanks for the Foobar link.
I've been very curious about this as well.
It seems that foobar plugin has quite a bit of success from the little feedback it's gotten.

Good post.
I like to use "HD audio" in PaulStretch. "HD audio", lol.

Hi,

That should be ok. Just be about 2 feet away. You need not be precise. Please make sure you turn off all DSP soundcard processor.  BTW, thanks for pointing out the error in the link but now I cannot edit it anymore. The edited link is here.

I have listened to the Dark Side of the Moon so many times but never knew the complete effect of the surround sound till I played them on Panambiophonics setup. The effect is much better than the 5.1 multichannel version. Mesmerizing!

Binaural recordings of Ambiophonics vs Stereo

Sorry to review this old topic. I thought I better share my progress here instead of starting a new topic.

I have made some progress with the setup. The WIP is now recorded for future reference. Below are two videos of my system comparing Stereophonics and ambiophonics setup. Most of the recordings were made using binaural microphone so use of headphones is recommended.

This is just a simple setup with $10 and the difference is obvious. The latest changes are in the playlist of the Youtube.
