Burning FLAC files: Which program do you use?

Hi,

Sometimes I have to burn FLAC files. I always used Nero for this: in combiantion with a plugin by MauSau, Nero could burn them to an audio-cd. But that plug in does not work anymore with Nero 7. To burn CD's, I first have to decode my FLAC files to WAV with foobar or the FLAC Frontend, and after that, I can burn them. I searched for burning programs (if possible freeware) which support FLAC, but I couldn't find them.
So my question is: Which method do you use to burn FLAC (to audio CD)? Do you use Nero 7 with a trick? Or another burning program? Hopefully some people around here have valuable tips

Burrrn can burn Audio CDs from FLAC. Also, Roxio Easy Media Creator 8/9 supports FLAC out of the box.

Thanks! Burrrn is what I was searching for. However, if someone knows how to use Nero with FLAC files, I'm still interested.

Simply put the nxMyFLA.dll library from the FLAC 1.1.2 for Windows with installer package (http://flac.sourceforge.net/download.html) off the official website into your Nero plug-in directory (or let the installer do it for you).
WavPack 5.6.0 -b384hx6cmv / qaac64 2.80 -V 100

Well, I think that file works with Nero 6, but not anymore with Nero 7. Isn't it the same file as the file that can be downloaded here: http://www.bitburners.com/Nero_Audio_Plugins_by_MauSau/
I was not able to get Nero 7 woreking with that plug-in (which is the same as yours I assume)

Same one from here http://www.bitburners.com/Software/Downloa...FLAC_v1.0.0.33/ , it seems, tho as mentioned I've taken it from the official FLAC Win32 package w/ installer, works for me.

Well I found out why the plugin didn't work for me after running the FLAC installer.  It seems the FLAC installer puts an extra Audio Plugins folder inside the nero Audio Plugins folder.  So when you fire up NERO it won't detect it.  I just moved the plugin to the right place, deleted the extra Audio Plugin folder and voila.  It works like a charm now.

Since this is a good enough place to post this topic:

I have EAC on my desktop and laptop, and only my desktop can actually burn a FLAC or an APE image. I haven't found anything about EAC supporting those images for rewrite.
OP can't edit initial post when a solution is determined  :'-(

Is there a program that will burn an MP3 directly from flac files?

Sorry if this has been covered...I have been searching and searching for either a stand alone that will do this or a plugin/addon for anohter app.

Thanks!

Sadly I have to convert them to WAV then burn the WAVs as Nero 6 causes my machine to reboot when I try to burn  DeepBurner doesn't support FLAC properly either.

I'll give burrrn ago

Hello friends my question is What is the best software to make a back-up on dvd of flac files and scans on png? I've been using Nero of course but probably there's something better. Besides I had my pc tuned recently and now I only have 8x for burning speed the 4,5x option which I'd been using is no more available. Sorry if this is not the most suitable forum but is the closest one to my question. Thanks a lot you're awsome!

Well, you'll want to burn as a data disc, so pretty much any burning software can do it.
I personally use CDRTFE, but there are other good options out there (the recommendations in this thread are five years old, but they might still be good).
I would look for software that will automatically check the disc for errors after burning, CDRTFE does that.

But DVDs aren't the most secure backup medium. They degrade slowly, and lifetimes can vary quite a lot. You might consider something else, like an external HDD, flash drives, or online backups.

Thanks friend, I didn't know that software your mention, gonna try it. I'm using a HDD disk too, but I'm a bit paranoid about losing the data, so I'm doing all I can. I know dvds degradate but they may save your life (provided the dvd is still alive when you nedd it! ha hah). Gonna read the link you gave me. Thanks for answering so quickly and completely.

You'll have to upgrade Nero. More recent versions have FLAC conversion built in.

Dear friend, I've tried cdrtools and it has worked perfectly. It has a very slow burning speed which is what I wanted. I also got to know about dvdsaster. Have you got any opinion you can give me? Is it good to use? Thanks once more

I'm afraid i don't. Since i don't use DVDs as a backup i haven't done any research on it. Hopefully another member can help you out.

Hello there! I want to thank everyone in this post who helped me with their knowledge especially Andrew. i recently found a dvd I'd burned almost three yeras ago, solely to pass the music data to a friend and interestingly I found it works prefectly: I tested all the files and the play normaly. I have to add that I did'nt take any special precaution with the dvd as it was not meant for archival purposes, plus I live in an area of Argentina that is very humid. I know the reasons for not using dvd as back up are valid: they degrade with time and of course there are better options, but I wanted to say we can rely on these purple friends as long as we chek on them yearly and keep them from direct light and sealed from humidity as I learnt from you guys.

PS: Can anybody tell me if printable dvds are more resistant to time than the common ones?

Thanks once more!
