The only album that I love every song and will listen to from first to last track is Iron Maiden - Powerslave. I have a whole bunch of favorite albums where I like almost every song, 4 Strings - Believe is the first that comes to mind in this sense, but there are a bunch of favorite albums where there are 1 or 2 or 3 songs that I don't like but absolutely love the rest.. I'd have to break those down by genre.

Joan Baez, the first, eponymous, album.

There's a CD re-issue with "bonus" extra tracks, which were very wisely left off the original release. The criterion for inclusion was, obviously, perfection.

Rush - Moving Pictures

Hands down, the best. Every song is good, fresh, and still alive. Right up there with Led Zep II and IV, as well as Joshua Tree.

Quadrophenia -The Who

By far the best album ever by the Who, and by anyone ever! biggrin.gif
Music when it still had emotion and meaning, not like commercial hip-hop or disney pop...

I know its cliche, but Sgt. Pepper's is my #1.

Vs by Pearl Jam a close second.

Moby Grape by Moby Grape is third.

That's a toughie, but luckily one I decided for myself a while ago. Therefore, I can actually give a single answer (and it's not the same answer I used to give, either). For sheer consistency, variety, and overall character, I'd have to go with Genesis' A Trick of the Tail. Of course this is all very subjective. But oh so fun. cool.gif

For me, music acts like bookmarks in my life. Each of my favorite albums conjures up memories of my past.

Currently coming out of a very dark period of my life, I find it wildly entertaining to mentally flip through my "book."

~ The Cars - Candy-O
~ Devo - Q. Are we not men? A. We are DEVO!
~ Simple Minds - New Gold Dream & Sparkle in the Rain (Had one album on cassette side a, other on side b, and set auto-reverse for constant playback)
~ Love & Rockets - Express
~ Catherine Wheel - Ferment
~ Radiohead - Ok Computer

...and for every album, there are 33 others I loved as well...

Rush - Power Windows.

It combines my love of 80's pop music and Hard Rock/Metal with a very strong emphasis on songwriting and musicanship that I love in Power Metal and Prog. Metal.

It is the only album I have ever heard where every song is a masterpiece.

Other albums have had more songs that are just as good, say 12 songs I consider the best music has to offer, but this one gets absolutely everything right.

I know that I'll never be able to narrow it down to just one album. I can't even do that by genre, for the most part.

Yes, I've completely broken the thread rules, but believe me, I'm actually trying to limit them by genre. Anyway, here it goes:

Jazz:
Charles Mingus - The Black Saint and the Sinner Lady

Blues:
Howlin' Wolf - Howlin' Wolf/Moanin' in the Moonlight (still cheating with this one, it's 2 albums on 1 disc, but I always listen as if they're one)

Hip-Hop:
J Dilla - Donuts
Cannibal Ox - The Cold Vein
The Pharcyde - Labcabincalifornia
Slum Village - Fantastic, Vol. 2
Flying Lotus - Los Angeles & Cosmogramma

Electronic:
Massive Attack - Blue Lines & Mezzanine
Björk - Homogenic
Burial - Untrue
Saltillo - Ganglion

Rock:
Jeff Buckley - Grace
My Bloody Valentine - Loveless
Morphine - Yes
Tom Waits - Bone Machine
David Bowie - Low

Pop
Fleetwood Mac - Tusk (but not with the edited CD version of "Sara". I'll never understand why they did that.)
The Beatles - Abbey Road
The Beach Boys - Pet Sounds

R&B/Soul/Funk
Marvin Gaye - What's Goin' On
Funkadelic - Maggot Brain
Sly & the Family Stone - There's a Riot Goin' On

John Coltrane - A Love Supreme

Otis Redding - Otis Blue

Miles Davis - Bitches Brew

Jimi Hendrix - Band of Gypsies

Jorge Ben - A Tábua de Esmeralda

Love - Forever Changes
