Hi Gregory, long time user of CUETools here, so let me thank you for this great little piece of software.

I just have a small feature request which I don't know if it's been asked already: Would it be possible to add in the CUETools log information about the flags found on cuesheets, if any? I know they're not very usual, but it would be especially helpful when a preemphasis flag is detected to have that info available at a quick glance there along with the other reports.

Ok, not sure why this is. Ripped a CD with dBpoweramp, and I was unable to rip one of the tracks, so I repaired with CTDB and CueTools, however, even though all of the other tracks are confirmed by dBpoweramp/Accuraterip, CueTools says the disc is not in AccurateRip, and the CueTools log does not show the normal CTDB results...

CUETools doesn't know that, and it needs to know it to access AR.
Unfortunately, it cannot support dbPowerAMP extraction log, so it cannot find this information.
You can specify it manually (Pregap: 00:00:33)

Thanks. Any ETA on reading CD-TOC from tags as implemented in dBpoweramp? I take it that would have fixed this problem.

Hi!

I still had problems with the missing CTDB log in EAC. For example for a two-disc release I got the log for only the first disc... After many tryouts without any comprehensible results I nearly gave up - but finally updated - as a last-ditch attempt - the CTDB-EAC-plugin from version 2.1.3 to 2.1.4. And now everything works fine. Thanks for the hints I foolishly followed too late... headbang.gif

No update for a while and he is also not present in his forum for a while.

So instead of ripping all my discs with EAC I changed my habits and rip now more than 90% of my discs with CUEripper

But I miss in the CUEripper log something like the range quality value.
You know how often you had to rerip sectors on the CD. Wouldn't it be possible to add something similar too?

CUERipper doesn't keep track of how many retries it made at a given sector, but it does keep track of the sectors where it wasn't satisfied with the results, i.e. where the number of retries reach maximum allowed. It displays this information in the log file (suspicious sectors). I could easily convert the number of suspicious sectors into some kind of e.g. logarithmic quality percentage, like 100% for 0 suspicious sectors, 95% for 1, 90% for 2, 85% for 4, 80% for 8 etc.

In EAC quality means something different, i suppose. It's probably not about sectors that reached maximum allowed number of retries, but about sectors that had more than minimum allowed number of retries. I wonder if it's relevant.

Not at the moment, no. I'm quite busy at my day job, so the amount of time that i have to spare for CUETools is mostly spent on CTDB maintenance. CUETools 2.1.4 release appears to be quite robust and i am not aware of any urgent issues with it, so 2.1.5 can wait.

Name: wv_hybrid

Creates hybrid .wv and .wvc correction files.
[edit]: .wv is registered in CUETools as a 'lossless' encoder so that's where you'll find 'wv_hybrid' for encoding.

Hi,

My CUERipper usually raise Exception: Error reading CD: unknown error
when I use a drive connected via SATA/IDE to USB converter cable.

I tried on LG GH24NS95(SATA) and NEC ND-3520A(IDE).

This error appears randomly, so ripping process of same disc sometimes succeeds and sometimes fails at various points.
Although it must be due to the connection abnormality,
I have never encountered similar error on other rippers like EAC, dbPowerAmp or foobar2000.
So, I hope this problem can be solved by CUERipper's enhancement.

USB (and firewire) bridges sometimes do weird things – myself I am using dBpoweramp, and it turns out that it cannot get out C2 error pointers from my firewire-connected CD changer although EAC can. I can only guess that issues are so much idiosyncratic that some combinations of software/firmware/hardware work and others don't. From my (limited) understanding, the issue can be either related to the converter cable or also to the motherboard chip.

It is likely better, if you can, to connect by SATA (or eSATA, equivalently). If you have e.g. a laptop with ExpressCard, then you can get the connection for less than $10 at eBay. Worth it.

Sorry for not parsing all 85 pages of this thread for an answer...

Right now it seems that CueRipper applies Ape2 tags to True Audio files instead of ID3. Is there a way to correct this in the settings? I've looked, but I did not find anything.

CUETools & Quicktime (QT AAC)

Ive been using cueripper for ripping cd's to flac
now i want to encode these flac's to AAC

QAAC is up to date.

Well to use QTAACENC, you need to decide if you want to use
--cbr, --abr, --cvbr, or --tvbr (reference)
or setup a separate encoder for each.

One example might be (Sorry, I don't have Quicktime installed so I did not test this)

Extension: m4a
Path: qtaacenc.exe (qtaacenc.exe copied to CUETools folder)
Parameters: --tvbr %M --high - %O
Modes: 10 20 30 40 50 60 70 80 90 100 110 127
Name: qtaac tvbr
Lossless: uncheck this box

Encoder mode {slider} lets you select the quality modes.

hi, hope this hasnt been brought up already but noticed an issue with how cuetools 2.14 works with multiple discs - if you have a collection with more than 5 discs - any discs with a (foobar written) disc number tag over 5 are grouped together as "disc 5"... you probably have to have all the files in the same directory to notice this..

example :

5cd set ripped into the same directory, each disc is tagged as such and has own log file

- processed as normal, no problems

6cd set..

- first 4 cds fine, 5th and 6th grouped together

i have the "mindrocker" (60s psychedelia) compilation on my hd (13cds) and it shows up within the multiselect browser window as 5cds..

cd1.. 14 files
cd2.. 14 files
cd3.. 14 files
cd4.. 14 files
cd5.. 140 files..

should also point out that i dont have cue files for any of these discs, perhaps that is part of the problem.

Thanks, I was kind of fixed on the whole built-in encoders concept so I forgot I can also use an external encoder

Any chance of an improvement in CUETools' handling of non-ASCII file/folder names? I used CUETools to split a number of my japanese flac/cue files, and all the filenames came out as ______. (At least for the japanese characters.) Example CUE: http://pastie.org/6332223

The encoding was UTF-8, and windows is perfectly capable of having such characters copypasted into the filenames, and CUETools did transfer the tags correctly.
