CoreAAC, Foobar and NeroMix
& Nero Media Player & [Simple] MP3-Player & WMP9 Through DirectShow 3ivx FourCC & WA3 through a FAAD-Plugin....(and WA2 of cource)

Still I would drop out of this list WMP9, [Simple] & especially WA3 according to their (somehow) lossy and crippy DirectSound output (I do not know how those 3 succeed to spoil the MP4's (m4a's). If they would just implement the basic library functions and put the sound out...

But as all MS prods, they seem to do things by the hard way (and taking huge amount of resources out of their own op.sys), and with a power of money they try to smuggle all new (and good) off - wma is best, there's nothing else....
So. others have to make the Good implementations...

What comes to WA3 - I just do not know how do the boys do that - You tell me?

I would choose WA2 or Foobar - They sound best for "my ears" (whose condition has been talked about here before...)

Hydrogen Audio Terms of Service, point #8:

Statements on technical or quality oriented matters are expected to be supported by the author responsible for such statements

This is quite simple. If you, as a user, make a claim about the quality or general ability of an encoder/decoder/etc to perform in a given situation (for example) which happens to be contrary to pre-existing data, but then do not supply supportive information when discussion follows, you are likely to be receive harsh responses to your posts. The HydrogenAudio staff will not take action against any users which may post these responses.

Explanation:
By not abiding by this rule, you are wasting not only your time, but the time of everyone else participating in the forums here. This is especially true for the authors of such encoders who are then forced to wade through possibly false claims before they can actually work on addressing a valid issue. In the case of noting a quality problem with a given encoder, the proper course of action would be to provide either a test sample, ABX testing results, or ideally both. Please be aware of this matter, the HydrogenAudio community does not take it lightly.

When you claim that one of players sounds better than others, please provide ABX results confirming that, as we're not interested in placebo effect and "warm fuzzy feelings" some players give you. As an author of both foobar2000 and "Winamp3's lossy DirectSound" you mention, I can see that your claim is pure bullshit. You're on your way to get banned soon if you don't stop.

OK - I'll try to be more neutral to please You and the mods, I just thought that opinions are as valuable as "white papers" and won't harm anyone, just to rise up some conversation

Sorry about this all! I have Not read all of those q-reports....

P.S. Can You as Foobar developer explain me the Q. difference as technically staying in concepts (or give me a good link to follow...). I was just wondering all this...?

Yes - I've seen this. Believe me - after a few months I will be much viser and keep my fingers shut (or could we say better oriented)...

P.P.S. we are still at "General/AAC" not the professional threads - so I have to take some time to learn "Your Habbits" here...

Maybe only this one :
http://i.afterdawn.com/articles/ACF2728.gif picture at
http://www.afterdawn.com/articles/archive/...6_review_d3.cfm

(a bit old stuff, but still...)

"Recently Menno Bakker, Ahead MPEG4 developer, run a small informal listening test comparing an early implementation of HE AAC versus Ogg Vorbis (the closest competitor in the low bitrate arena), and HE AAC delivered consistent superior quality.
It's worth mentioning that the Nero 6 implementation has been improved since the one used on that test"

Now I have put some "white" on my reply. That shows You how the quality is been discussed behind one's back....

Pse - don't kick - that'll hurt...

And what does this have to do with AAC decoders ? You are offtopic-trolling yet another AAC thread now. Please get serious, or you are out. We don't need this kind of posts here.

OK - I'll go to some off-topics just now, because I have a Q at some thing, that won't relate to this one at all....

And as I said - we are new to each forums and their rules after being here for 4 days as me...It seems to me that many of us have to learn it by the "hard way"...

Hello and G.B. for all for a while.... (I'll be back later and viser some day...)

P.S. if I have 33 "degrees warm" - does that mean I have "67 degrees" left...?

You don't have to learn anything the hard way. Just don't even post when you are not 100% sure.

That means don't even comment about what I said. Brush up on your English (that includes using a spellchecker, because misspelt words can cause unnecessary misunderstandings), brush up a little on objective debate, and brush up a little on the technical details of audio, before you even start posting again.
That is one sure way not to get banned.

And anyway, it's 33 percent, not degrees.

I stumped myself here at first (after just joined). what's up with all the rulez and warn-staff? I think I go immediately and read all those rulez - this seems to be "more strict" place than say "Zeropaid.com" where people discuss seriously and less seriously at same threads (and can change subject say 5 times within one thread)

At my opinion (can I use this word?) - if the decoder is same at few proggies, it'll set out the same results when listening, depending of cource, what defaults / presets each player uses. At AAC the presets are going better all the time as when FAAD gets better and faster all the time and it's technical specs are coming to 'real-life' one after one (the TODO-file - neverending list)

And hello all Ya from northern europe at 18:47 pm...

When someone calls talks about DirectSound being "lossy", chances that this person isn't intentionally posting BS (or trolling) are very little.
