foobar not reading id3 tags after mp3 gain

ok, i run some files thru mp3 gain, track gaining them.  if i load those into foobar, the tags (id3) are not read.  if i go back to mp3gain and remove the (ape?) tags, then the id3 will be read by foobar, but only if i change the folder name they are in (probly foobar is working off the database?)

which i dont get, cuz i thought foobar used ape tags for its replay gain thing.

so, i'm missing a setting or there's a workaround, or i just need to remove tags ater mp3gaining?
