channel arrangement strategy of DTS multichannel audio

I am now investigating channel arrangement strategy of DTS multichannel audio content. I find some strange behaviour of player.

Note: I test these cases by PS3 connected with 7.1 amplifier. It is standard 7.1 config, it is (FL FR FC LFE BL BR SL SR) by Windows channel notation.

I was confused why PS3 remap 4.0 content in 5.1 environment, but upmix 4.1 content in 7.1 environment and upmix some 6.1 to 7.1, but downmix some 6.1 to 5.1?
What the reason to determine the speak out of content with some strange channel mask?
