How to convert ALAC to FLAC?

I've got my entire music collection in FLAC and I use Foobar2000 to manage it all.  I've got a couple of albums from a friend that he saved in ALAC format, so I'd like to convert them over to FLAC files.  Is there an easy way to do it?

I've searched all over HA and Google, but haven't found any instructions.  Foobar2000 doesn't seem to be able to read the ALAC files.  I'd appreciate it if someone could either give me a quick tutorial or point me in the right direction.

Thanks!

You can try to use ALAC decoder component:

Then add ALAC files to playlist and use the Converter function.

Hello!

Well, my experience with the ALAC plugin for foobar has been disapointing.

But you can I have been using dBpowerAMP's DMC (get it here) to convert. You can use the freeware version if you are not going to use mp3, just install the FLAC and m4a plugins. Yes, the ALAC plugin comes with the m4a plugin...

IMHO it is far easyer then foobar. And in my experience is more predictable.

how is it easier? in foobar2000, you just right click on a file and click convert.
