Hi,

is there any chance of anyone being interested in making a lightweight java version (for mobile phones with J2ME) of foobar2000?? Now that I've upgraded from Siemens A55 to SE Z610i, I've really come to miss foobar2000, since I can now use my mobile for listening to music as well...the native media player isn't that great.

I myself wouldn't be of much use, except for visual design, I know basic programming (Asm, C, Lua, PHP), but I probably wouldn't be of much use anyway T_T

So far I haven't found a decent media player with support for various formats (and foobar2000 is nearly unbeatable when it comes to supported formats ^^, woot!) so I just thought I'd see what response a topic like this would receive.

IMHO, foobar2000 basic player along with a plugin API for various formats support would be the most important. Other features could be added later on.

Mod formats, MPC, OGG, TTA, would be truly amazing ^^

no, because not anyone has access to the source of foobar. the only chance is for this to happen is when the author of foobar2000 is interessted in such a thing.

Crap! So the only chance of a decent player is to start from scratch T_T............maybe I'll go over to some java forum, see if anyone would be interested, although I doubt it...

You could write a music player in Java.  It would have nothing to do with foobar, but you're welcome to do it.

foobar2000 is implemented in C++ on Win32. Using its source code as starting point for a player on J2ME is about as useful as taking a map of London along on a trip to Paris. In other words: there is nothing in the source code of foobar2000 that you could reuse in Java on J2ME.
