cuetools doesn't copy "disc number" tag.

I have noticed that after conversion from ape to flac both cuetools 2.14 and 2.16 don't copy "disc number" input tag to output flac file Other tags are populated correctly. With foobar2000 and dbpoweramp everything is OK. What do I have to do to correct this behaviour. Thanks in advance.

"disc number" is not an APEv2 tag. CUETools should copy the first value from the "disc" tag in the ape file to the "discnumber" tag in the FLAC file unless you are overriding the settings by making a metadata selection. Check the settings on the Tagging tab. If you are trying to actually copy a "disc number" tag, try checking "Copy unknown tags".

Edit: removed doubled word.

Thanks for your answer. I am not familiar with tagging standards but if I've understood correctly, CUETools can't see this metadata because it is not in expected format although other software (mp3tag, tag & rename etc. can see it because they support multiple tagging standards). I've already checked "copy unknown tags" but without result. Same problem occurs with wv input files. With FLAC input everything is OK. Does that mean that I should tag my input ape and wv files again applying apev2 tag standard (populate "disc" field). Since I use Tag & rename software, which setting should I use and is there a way to check which tagging standard is applied to my input files?

Sorry I'm not that familiar with Tag&Rename (maybe someone else can help here).
CUETools won't find the "discnumber" tag in APE or WV files. You will need the "disc" tag.

There is no standard for APE or APEv2 tags regarding what the tag item for disc number should be named. CUETools assumes it will be "disc". A few other programs follow that convention as well, for example, foobar2000 and (I believe) MP3Tag.

For the sake of simplicity, I would suggest using "disc" in APEv2 tags, as opposed to "discnumber" or "disc number".
