CDex speed with DVD / CD drive

Hi there

With my new computer I got a dvd drive for the first time! :-D  Something really cool I've noticed is that CDex now performs amazingly fast, tracks rip in 10 seconds or so, rather than in 2 minutes it took on any CD drive I tried it in.

Is there a general reason, such as 1x in a DVD drive is far faster than 1x in a CD drive, so it can handle the paranoia full reading much quicker than a standard CD or CDRW drive?

Just curious really...
