DTS Conversion

http://filedropper.com/track01_12

Please find above link. It is an audio file which you can download.

Details of above file :

I downloaded one .nrg album which consists of 6 songs in DTS format. Used AnytoISO and split that into 6 tracks. Out of those one is above track. I want above one Track to be converted to DTS format Audio CD so that I can playback in my DVD & AV Receiver which can decode DTS and has played similar DTS CD's.

I tried several ways. One of which is I split the above single track into 6 mono channels through Tranzcode and converted through Surcode for DTS CD. Though getting decoded no audio.

Can somebody help please

DISCLAIMER - I've never done anything with DTS (other than play DVDs on my DVD player)...

That's the "extracted" DTS file, and it hasn't been processed with SurCode, right?    I think that's not a regular WAV file...  I assume it's DTS encoded WAV file like is used on a DTS CD, right?

I opened it in an audio editor and it "looks like noise", but I didn't try playing it right now 'cause I'm at work.  That's what I'd expect from a "fake" WAV file that's actually DTS encoded.

I also assume you could burn the above file to a CD and play it in your setup (without SurCode).

I'm pretty sure SurCode wants normal (PCM) WAV files.

VLC plays it.  Of course foobar2000's decoder fails at it and produces nothing but noise.  What a surprise.  Not.  Given that the HDCD decoder fails on a lot of my CDs.

How to work VLC's converter is another story.

nivedhya, TAudioConverter can convert to DTS: http://www.fosshub.com/TAudioConverter.html

Chibisteven, "what a surprise" was rude, why don't you make a component that works?

I would if I could.  I don't know how and don't have the tools to program a component that does.  It's not intended to be rude or mean.  More of a fed up and tired with everything attitude.

Above file I could use Surcode for DTS CD and able to convert to DTS and play. I don't know what was the issue during last time conversion. But I have one new issue regarding the same track.

Above Track if put into Mediainfo details as follows.

Format : wav
Codec : AC - 3
Bit Rate : 1411 Kbps
Sampling Frequency : 44.1KHz
Bit Depth : 16 bit
AC-3 (AES3)(little)

Above one I could play in VLC Media Player, using Tranzcode demux as 6 mono wave file and then convert them to DTs using Surcode

But I have one more track. Details as follows if put into Mediainfo

Format : wav
Codec : PCM
Bit rate : 1536 Kbps
Sampling Frequency : 48 Khz
Bit Depth : 16 bit
PCM (Little/signed)

This file if played in VLC only noise, not getting into Tranzcode for demuxing to 6 channel mono and not getting into surcode as sampling frequency acceptence of surcode is 44.1 Khz.

Looks like DVD compatiable file. Not sure. I want to convert this to DTS. How to do it?

Probably because it's 48 KHz wav file and the stream is now corrupted?

That's a Nero file???  Why don't you just get Nero, burn the disc, and your done?

I don't know what it is...  If it was a true-normal PCM WAV file, VLC (or anything else) could play it.

And, I doubt it's anything DVD compatible unless it's a DTS or AC3 file with the wrong WAV file header.  ...If it's DVD-compatible PCM, it should play normally.

Of course!    ...You're fooling around with a non-standard format and you're trying to burn a disc that isn't a video DVD or an audio CD.  Then, you are going to stick it into your CD/DVD player and fake-out the CD player into thinking it's playing a CD, and then you hope your AVR will see the DTS stream and decode it.

I get it's a nonstandard format.  Never burned it.    Plus my AVR is really a home theater in the box with it's built-in DVD Player (what you get for living with your mom and your siblings who don't want to spend money on a system that's more flexible in terms of options and setup for the living room).  Last I check the HTIB only takes Dolby Digital @ 48 KHz via it's only Toslink input.  Not DTS.  DTS only works if you play a DVD in the player.  Says so in the manual (yes I read those).  This thing has one set of analog RCA inputs and FM/AM Radio with iPod Dock and only has composite, component and HDMI output port, no audio outs except for the front speakers and subwoofer, it sends surround channels out through a card to a unit in the back of the room wirelessly that people have to be yelled at not to unplug from the power outlet.  Stupid propriety crap annoys me, but it's not my home and I would of bought an AVR instead.

The whole thing was getting it to play on my computer with it's analog only 5.1 speaker set and try to help the original poster out after understanding how to do it (until the poster seemly figured it out).  I actually found it out was Dolby Digital I was dealing with, afterwards I was able pull the AC3 stream clean out of the wave file and played that without a problem.  Thanks lvqcl for telling me what it really was and not making fun of me unlike DVDdoug.

I have a feeling I going to get laughed when I post this.  Aw well.  I get both of the setups I have access to are their own brand of crap in one way or the other.  At least the computer speakers aren't tied to a specific computer and can be replaced with something better unlike the home theater in the box setup going on downstairs that also requires getting a new DVD player and new speakers if you go the AVR route.
