Hello!

First of all, I was very pleasantly surprised to see that kode54 had picked up this plugin and developed it further. Thank you very much kode54! cool.gif
However... After the upgrade from 0.22 (?) to 0.24.2, almost every song plays incorrectly. sad.gif

Take for example the Phoenix Wright Ace Attorney soundtrack:

2SF here:

This is how it should sound:

I am sorry I cannot be of any more help than telling that it sounds wrong sad.gif

Yes, because I broke the PSG mode when adding Lanczos resampling. This is fixed now.

I have both foo_gep (1.169) and foo_input_vio2sf (0.24.4) installed and I have no problems. blink.gif

Sounds interesting. If I have both installed foobar crushes on startup. If I uninstall either of them foobar runs normally.

Try eliminating foo_input_caf, as it doesn't even appear to be working properly. (Error notice loading some CoreAudioToolbox thing)

And then there's this whole mess of crap that the troubleshooter says you should either remove or update.

Hi kode, I wanted to know if you could add cosine interpolation to the list of algorithms, as the lanczos one makes drum samples like snares, cymbals and hihats sound pretty dull (and somehow, the complete package sounds a bit dull all in all) and desmume says that cosine offers the best sound quality.

Cosine is bullshit, just a failed attempt at cubic spline interpolation. Where cubic spline interpolation draws a sinusoidal line which passes through each sample point, cosine interpolation simply draws a full cosine sweep between each sample point, without accurately reproducing the original waveform.

Cubic spline interpolation is probably what you want, even if it is less mathematically accurate for up and downsampling. Sinc interpolation is the most mathematically accurate I can feasibly use, but it does have a tendency to muffle samples if they are played back at low rates.

I will rework the interpolation options of both the NCSF and 2SF players later. Then you can have your cubic spline interpolation. Or band limited stepping, if you prefer that delicious sound of zero order hold, like the original hardware.

I've also had a request for unclipped floating point output. You know, so those 2SF files which contain songs that clip horribly on the actual hardware don't clip horribly like on the actual hardware.

EDIT: Bam, you get zero order hold, blep synthesis, linear interpolation, cubic interpolation, and sinc interpolation. Except for the PSG mode, that's always blep synthesis. Default is cubic, because that's the least likely to cause noticeable problems with low quality percussion samples, like some games are known to use.
