Did anyone heard of "Prinz sound" headphones?

As I am in need of new headphones, PX100 broke again and again, I am in a search of a cheap replacement - I can't afford anything above 30$ right now  anyways, today I got into one used CD and vinyl store, and noticed strange looking used headphones for sale, but I have never heard of the brand: "Prinz sound", Model 205v.
Anyone heard of them? They may be german or switzerland made, concerning the name "Prinz"... but never heard of them. Google didn't reveal nothing.

Haven't heard of that brand or headphone, but you might want to take a look at the RP-HTX7, JVC HA-S700 or Koss PortaPro.

If memory serves Prinzsound was the house brand name for Dixon's, a British high street consumer electronics chain, in the '70s. I recollect their products being aimed at the cheaper end of the mass market. I don't know what that says about the sort of quality you can expect though.

I recently picked up a pair of Superlux HD 668B headphones, which are supposed to be something like Beyer DT 990 clones. They cost me a tad over $30. Sound pretty smooth.  They have been discussed here before...

@botface: They looked cheap alright, and I've got only a brief chance of listening to them... they sound rather OK, but with elevated higher midrange. I could get used to that, but I am not into buying that vintage equipment for daily use, I'd fear they would fall apart

As of your suggestions - I am not living in America or EU, and the stores try to make me pay enormous shipping rates. Arnold, I know about Superlux, but I haven't found them for that price; I found them for 30 euros, and even without postage of 10 euros they are too expensive for me. Whilist PortaPro are 30$ on Amazon, last time they were available here they were something around 45$ - and for that kind of money they are too expensive. The same goes to the rest of the headphones.

I've done some researching, and wanted to go for these two: Maxell DHP-II (these are too expensive, though) or Coby CV185. I've had PortaPro before, and as Senns, they are not the headphones to use really everyday when commuting, at least two hours daily, in the sun or the rain. The worst part of them is the connector, and I can't solder replacement one properly on the isolated wires Senns have. I can't even open them and solder replacement wires to the driver. Considering their price here (senns are twice as expensive! as on Amazon), they are, for me, bad experience.

I will try to buy at least something - I like to read, but it is hard in the trains here - can't keep focus on the text.

Hi Yes i have prinz sound headphones model 205v which i bought at dixions in oxford street london in1973. They don't look cheap & they are realy good as you can adjust volume for each ear.

AKG has some high quality ear buds that are in the $10-$20 price range.  I know you want headphones and not earbuds, but I bought some of these for my wife and I think you will be surprised at how good they are give the price tag.  I've also included a headphone set of theirs that is $35 and has some pretty good reviews.  Good luck!

I have a couple of K311 earbuds and yes, they're actually very good sounding regardless of the price and quite solid build.
Here in Italy they sell for 15€ or less.
There are also the K309 which sell for 10€ (or even less) and shouldn't be too much inferior in SQ.

Being earbuds they give poor insulation anyway, if that's you are searching for to use them in a noisy environment like a train.
... I live by long distance.

Well, to update the status - I've got from my work HD201, and bought some Philips headphones, and latest are Stagg SHP 4500 - they are rather large, but they warm up my ears nicely, as it got a bit cold here, and they sound nice. I will be replacing them soon with something lighter for commuting
