Mr. Aoyumi

I was wondering if your are near to release a new update version of your
"ogg vorbis version".

Also will you focus on better quality at higher bitrates? (which ones?) and what kind of changes will they be on the next update?

Just curious here 'cos im a big fun of your "vorbis tool"

I will appreciate your answer

Thanks in advance

I don't have the plan of the release in a new version soon.

I cannot bring myself to spend much time for a high bit rate. The reason is because the unit/bit price of the storage device continues falling. And lossless codec is the best if I aim at the perfection.

The refinement of the high bit rate at the existing stage is reduction of the pre-echo.

Since it's been over a year since your 2006 build, perhaps you can release a beta5.5 in the meantime (like you did with 4.5) with the low-bitrate improvements you made to the post-beta5 builds?

Not amusing?  If that's true, it's sad to hear...

I think he's gotta a point though... lossless is a reality now and it's just a matter of time for it to be the primary choice of audiophiles.

If there are many people requesting it, I may begin a test and preparations to release it.

That would be great Aoyumi. That's three people who'd be interested so far.

I'd like to have a new release too, although i'm more interested in Beta 6 and it's pre-echo improvements. However, i think it's important to have new release to keep interest up for Vorbis and Aoyumi's work.

Kim C has a point.

Please do it Aoyumi. There are a lot of Ogg Vorbis fans outhere who would like to see this project being active. I know you are alone on this and it might be hard for you but im sure that all Vorbis/Aoyumi fans would be glad to see a an update.

I think beta 5.5 is a good thing to keep vorbis and interest "in condition". Some bugs will be fixed, some will be added:-) It is development:-) and it is necessity... But what is bad, the popularity of vorbis is bring down.

Well, I managed to have all my collection in FLAC now for indoor use, but I still use aoTuV Vorbis for my DAP (iAudio X5 & Rockbox  ) and it is ABSOLUTELY GREAT for that purpose! I'm satisfied with Q 3,5 for this, but new release would be nice

THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR ALL THAT EFFORT, MR. AOYUMI !!!
Is there a difference between yes and no?

Vorbis is my codec of choice for music, even for audiobooks, because of the quality per bitrate and especially because of Aoyumi's effort & achievement. Thank you Aoyumi  Some of us cannot afford the 32GB iPod Touch & prefer lossy codecs in general.
There will always be interest in new Aoyumi-tuned encoders, you help keep interest in Vorbis alive.

For my hard drive I use APE, but for my portable player I use Ogg Vorbis exclusively, as well as for compressing music videos (mostly AMVs). Improvements are not really necessary (aotuv is already great the way it is), but always welcome!

And of course I support a b5.5 release as well, so yes, +1 for me too!

[edit] Looks like 10 people already posted that they want it.  You're pretty popular, Aoyumi!

Besides new improvements since you've made since the last release, will beta 5.5 include the bug fixes from the official Vorbis 1.2.0 release?
